About Teen Idle

it all started when…

Teen Idle Magazine was created from the frustration our founder, Colette Holcomb, felt witnessing how the teen perspective is often censored by adults in the media. Teen Idle serves as a platform for young people to share their perspectives on growing up, world issues, communities, and pop culture without constraint. We believe that being a teen today cannot be expressed in a singular format, which is why we embrace all forms of creative expression. Teen Idle is not just a social magazine, a literary magazine, or an art collective — it’s all of the above and more!

The name “Teen Idle” is a play on both the idea that teens are lazy or “idle” — when the content of this magazine proves the opposite — and the concept of “teen idols” often present in teen pop culture.

We are an all-inclusive independent magazine that serves a safe space for creators all over the world to share their perspectives surrounding growing up, world issues, their communities, and more through art and writing as well as create opportunities for exposure for young artists + writers.
